Success Story

We began earning our Sip Smart badge in November with an assembly. Our Mayor, Healthy Kids Community Challenge Coordinator and Health unit representatives attended and promoted the Water Does Wonder initiative and the Sip Smart campaign and badge. Conversations began at the assembly with students and carried through classrooms using the Sip Smart curriculum and resources. Students created school posters promoting water and non sugar vs. sugar drinks, our local radio station (CJTT FM) had students record announcements promoting water and non sugar vs. sugar drinks, which were broadcast through the community. As a part of World Water Day our entire school participated in the Great Gulp and made a toast to our new refillable water stations and everyone had a big drink of water at the same time.
