We talked with our healthy kids squad to decide how we wanted to promote water. We decided to bring strawberry and cucumber infused water to each classroom to let students try flavoured water. Students in our school created “Water Does Wonders” posters to display in the hallway. Students think that these posters look “awesome”. Students are happy with the information and are learning new things about water. The grade 5/6 teacher was very helpful with this project.
We created a big bulletin board showing how much sugar is in popular drinks. We placed water inside of a big star to show that water is the healthiest choice. We labeled the bags how many teaspoons of sugar were in each drink. We were shocked to see how much sugar is actually in our drinks. Students in the school have made positive comments about the importance of this bulletin board. One student commented “Remind me not to bring that in my lunch”. Our principal Mrs. Aelick and a few parents helped us put this together.
We formed a healthy school committee. We plan to promote healthy choices in our school.
